A new proposal under consideration in the Miami Dade county government might pave the way for residents could pay tax in crypto.
District 8 county commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins told the news publication Miami new times a resolution has been submitted to the city Infrastructure operation and innovation committee. Miami News-Times report shows the resolution hopes to invoke a 13 member cryptocurrency task force dedicated to addressing the solution at hand. It will assess the feasibility of allowing residents to pay for their county taxes, fees, and services using digital currencies.
Should the proposal go through, local residents will allow paying tax in cryptos such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ethereum.
Higgins reportedly told the Miami New Times that “It is important to explore all avenues that can support an expanding tech and startup presence to benefit our economy.”
Mention a similar enacted by the administration of the city of Miami on Feb11. Which called to determine the feasibility of allowing Miami employees to receive salaries in Bitcoin and conduct business. This resolution proposes by Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. He also runs a campaign to make the city a crypto hotspot in the United States. Francis Suarez has been one of crypto’s loudest advocates in public office.
Cryptocurrency is becoming a popular payment among many big firms. Not only big firms but fast-food chains, Education systems, wineshops, also started to accept cryptocurrencies as payments.
