Crypto wallet provider Metamask alerts its user of a new type of phishing bot that is becoming active. An ‘Instant support’ site asks users to input their wallet’s seed phrases to particular Google docs.
The Warning came on MetaMask’s Offical Twitter account:
The form asks for a secret recovery phrase that can utilize to respawn user’s crypto wallets. MetaMask stated it does not have a Google Docs-based support system. Users to seek support from the “Get Help” option within the MetaMask app itself to avoid being scammed. Additionally, the team advised users to report phishing bots in the wallet app.

MetaMask alerts its user of phishing bots, still some of its users appear to have already been scammed. One twitters users replying, “So there is no way to get back our token right?” Although it is unclear how many MetaMask users fell for the scam.
Due to its popularity, Metamask is one of the top targets for hackers and scammers. On April 27, the developer behind the wallet, ConsenSys, reported that it had hit a record 5 million active monthly users.
