US billionaire and Activist Investor Carl Icahn is interested in getting into cryptocurrency in a “Big way” and may eventually put more than $1 billion into alternative currency. He said, “I mean, a big way for us would be a billion dollars, billion-and-a-half dollars. I’m not going to say exactly”.
Billionaire investors said in an interview with Bloomberg that he studies Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other crypto sectors as a whole to determine where opportunities are. Though Icahn hasn’t bought any cryptocurrency yet.
Icahn explained he’s now considering a more investment and entering the market “not to buy a few coins or something.”
“I mean a big way for us would be a billion-dollar, billion and a half dollars I’m not going to say exactly.”
Icahn said any criticism around cryptocurrency having no underlying value is a “little wrong-headed”. He stated, “Well, what’s the value of a dollar? The only value of a dollar is because you can use it to pay taxes.”
“I’m looking at whole business”, said Icahn referring to the crypto industry. “I’m not looking at what to buy necessarily at this time. I’m just looking at the whole business and how I might get involved with it.”
Icahn joins a number of billionaires who have changed their tune, opinion of cryptocurrency including Mark Cuban, Michael Saylor. Recently, Mark Cuban has also invested in Polygon. Icahn says he believes in crypto assets.
“I will say about cryptocurrencies. I don’t think there will be a lot of survivors out there trading today,” Icahn said. “I think there’s got to be some form of really feeling there’s safety and value there.”
