Local news reports said that Madison River Equity LLC would allow a special permit from next month. Company looking to build massive solar project in Butte, Montana claims it would provide 300 MW, 1600 acre solar array project known as the basin creek solar.
Madison River equity is units of an entity that builds the solar array then sells it to Atlas. It hopes to use its power in its cryptocurrency mining operation. The Basin Creek solar project is one of the most significant projects in the US.

Some community members are concerned about whether the extra electricity generated will actually benefit Butte or if it will sell it elsewhere. The project would be large enough to power around 40,000 homes, and the butte has around only 15000 homes.
The largest solar project seems to be in line with the goals of some (Elon musk) in the crypto community. They are trying to move away from fossil-fuel mining operation problems. Montana is 43rd in the nation, which had roughly 116 MW of solar capacity installed.The Basin creek solar project seems to be in the hand of the Butte-Silver bow zoning board. On 17th June, they will meet to discuss whether to allow solar array built on what is currently private land.
