Ahead of the opening of the Bitcoin 2021 Convention in Miami, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez revealed that he holds the top two cryptocurrencies by market cap.
“I Own Bitcoin and I Own Ethereum,” Suarez told in CNBC Squawk Box program, and also added, “I haven’t bought the dip yet but I’m planning to. I’ve just been too busy.”
The Mayor in the interview discovered he experienced ordered bitcoin in the “high30s” and Ethereum when it hovered around $1500. This usually means both investments are in earning.
He also said that he bought BTC and Eth immediately after the US Senate passed the $1.9-trillion stimulus bill. The bill was for COVID-19 relief back in early March.
He also said his thoughts on cryptocurrency ahead of the bitcoin 2021 convention. This convention is the world’s largest cryptocurrency conference to held this weekend in Miami.
Suarez said he made both purchases when the United States Senate passes the $1.9 trillion stimulus bill in March. “I knew at that point that inflation was inevitable and that there had to be some sort of a hedge,” he said in this regard.
Francis Suarez has been one of crypto’s loudest advocates in public office. He also proposed a resolution to allow Miami employees to receive salaries in cryptocurrencies. He also runs a campaign to make the city a crypto hotspot in the US. From nightclubs to tax payments, crypto adoption seems to be growing at a significant pace across the city.
