Ethereum-based non-fungible token (NFT) project Cool Cats have a partnership with iconic news magazine TIME. Cool Cats consists of 10,000 randomly assembled cats from over 300k total options. Each cat has a variety of outfits, faces and unique bodies.
According to a post from Cool Cats, the collaboration came about at the suggestion of TIME president Keith A. Grossman.
“Wow, what a crazy TIME to be alive. We are honored and privileged to announce a limited edition drop with one of the most iconic and well-respected companies out there, TIME magazine!” the Cool Cats team said in a blog.
The Cool Cats x TIME collaboration is a new series of NFT collectibles spanning 400 total images across four different designs. The newly minted Cool Cats will feature cats reading TIME Magazine. There will be 100X Elu’s cat, 100x Clons’ cat, 100x Xtremetom’s cat, and 100x Lynoid’s cat, according to the blog.
“This community exudes positively and optimism,” Grossman tweeted. “Cool Cats are family friendly and connect cross-generationally, which is important when you have TIME For kids! WLTCs! Simple as that!”
This partnership goes hand-in-hand with a meme competition. The creators of the eight best memes related to this project will each receive one of the NFT pieces for their efforts. The meme contest runs from 13 August and closes on August 20 at 12 P.M. EST. The remaining 392 NFTs in the collection will be raffled off to Cool Cat holders who entered the contest. Users are asked to share their Cool Cat-ID in the form of CC1234 in their meme posts.
Rules for Competition:
There are some rules followed in competition. The creators did not allow any themes related to religion, politics etc. It should keep things fun and creative. All entries must be family friendly, if you wouldn’t show a five year-old your meme, please don’t submit it.
Cool Cats ended their posts by referring to where they would drop the NFT pieces.
“Ideally, we would drop these pieces on Polygon. However, in light of recent events the security of Polygon has come into question. As such, the team is discussing the best course of action for future drops. This is an ongoing discussion.”
In April, TIME Magazine announced it will accept cryptocurrency for a digital subscription through a new partnership with crypto.com.
