In Brief:
- On Tuesday, Poly Network offered the hacker to become its top security advisor who stole $61 million earlier.
- The request came just days after the same hacker received a $500,000 “bug prize” from the DeFi network.
Poly Network that lost more than $US600 million last week has offered its hacker the role of a top security consultant. All this happened after the hacker returned the stolen assets and claimed that he simply took the crypto “for fun.”
Poly Network announced in a Tuesday post saying “we extend our thanks and encourage Mr. White Hat to continue contributing to security advancement in the blockchain world together with Poly Network and we cordially invite Mr. White Hat to be the Chief Security Advisor of Poly Network.”
Poly Network claimed the hacker uncovered multiple security flaws in its system, which it is now working to fix. They also added that the fix won’t happen “overnight.”
Although Mr. White Hat had previously been offered a $500,000 bug bounty by Poly Network, he declined it. He then publicly said that he is considering distributing it to members who have contributed to blockchain security.
In a recent public discussion, Mr. White Hat expressed his concerns regarding Poly Network’s security and overall development strategy.

“We have no intention of holding Mr. White Hat legally responsible,” the firm said. The network further added that “they’re confident that Mr. White Hat will return all the assets to Poly Network.”
“We truly hope that similar problems do not arise in future initiatives or in the industry’s descendants,” the network said.
Critics also wonder that bitcoins were returned because the hacker was terrified of being arrested if he converted them to cash.
