Former SEC Chair, Jay Clayton joined Fireblocks as a member of the advisory board. As of the company’s announcement on Thursday, Clayton will work with Fireblocks on addressing market structure and customer needs. He would also work on support and deployment of the firm’s security technology.
Clayton serves as an adviser to One River Digital Asset Management and is on the board of Apollo Global Management.
“Jay’s insights on financial stability and security in financial markets is unparalleled,” said Michael Shaulov, CEO and Co-Founder of Fireblocks. He further added, “Jay will help to advance further the safety and security of the Fireblocks infrastructure for capital markets participants and investors.”
“My primary role is to help Fireblocks understand how these new digital solutions and investment opportunities best fit within existing market practices and regulations”. He said. “In short, how they can improve the function and resilience of our infrastructure.”
Clayton will join Ran Cannetti, along with Cyberstarts founder Gili Raanan, Tenaya Capital’s Tom Banahan, Capitolis’ Gil Mendelzis, Paradigm’s Fred Ehrsam, and Stripes’ Ken Fox on the seven-member board.
Fireblocks, earlier this year, tripled its valuation in the Series D Funding. The funding boosted the company’s valuation to $2 bn. Sequoia Capital, Stripes, Spark Capital, Coatue, DRW VC and SCB 10X co-led the investment round.
