Sotheby’s auction house has sold a set of 101 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) of the “Bored Ape Yacht Club” collection for $24.4 million.
Sotheby had come with the two slots. The first slot was a bundle of 101 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. The auction started on Sept. 2 and closed on Sept. 10 with $24.4 million. The average price of each Bored ape is around $241,515 or 69.4 ETH.
This auction was placed this morning and the estimated value was $12 million and $19 million. This auction surpassed Sotheby’s ‘natively digital’ sale in June, which had gained $17 million. The online sale saw over 40 bids placed from bidders from eight different countries.
Bored Ape Yacht is a popular project with 10,000 computer-generated unique Apes, designed by Yuga Labs. It is a randomly generated NFTs with 170 unique properties. An ape cost 0.08 ETH at first launch but now has a floor price of 40 ETH on OpenSea.
This ape NFT buyer will become a member of an online club. Moreover, buyers of bored Ape will receive the intellectual rights of NFT, where they can update these images on their social media profile.
The second slot contains 101 “Bored Ape Kennel Club” NFTs, simply a set of Dogs images known as a pet of apes. Which brought $1,835,000. So in total auction valued at a $26,228,000
Delaware-based Yuga Labs launched the BAYC on April 30, and it has since become a highly popular project. Metaverse gaming firm Sandbox also bought Bored Ape for a record price of 740 ETH.
