Spruce’s vision to introduce high-level privacy of users’ identity and security during the Sign-in process is getting huge support from The Ethereum Foundation (EF) and the Ethereum Name Services (ENS).
An announcement was made on September 13 and confirmed that Spruce purpose will give a better alternative and best option to protect the data of users in Decentralized mode. It will also give the features that users will get like Google, Apple, and Facebook platforms to store the identities.
The EF and ENS have been supporting Spruce since July because, after their request, Spruce’s planning was accepted. They put forward a Request for Proposals (RFP) two months ago for sign-in with Ethereum. The Proposed plan of spruce is to give a sign-in packaging using Oauth – an open standard for access delegation.
Spruce noted that the Ethereum ecosystem “already has tens of millions of monthly active wallet users signing with their cryptocurrencies keys for financial transactions, community governance and more”.
“The security of these Wallets has been proven across billions of dollars of digital assets at stake- not theoretical security, but real tests in production. These secure wallets can be used to sign in to Web2 services.”
Spruce will work closely with the team at EF and ENS, ensuring that its solution is compatible with existing standards used throughout the Ethereum ecosystem. It also highlights that “the final result will be friendly to implementers while remaining vendor-neutral.”
Many companies like Opensea, Gitcoin already allow users to establish sessions with Ethereum wallets. “By standardizing this workflow, millions of Ethereum users will be able to use a digital identity that they fully control to seamlessly access the web.”
