Compass mining, the first online marketplace for bitcoin mining hardware, has launched a new service called “At-Home-Mining.”
According to the announcement, the new direct-to-consumer services provide customers with the ability to mine bitcoin from their own homes. The customers that hire the services will have an ASIC machine delivered to their door within three weeks. It gets customer support available to help them install the rig without paying any facility fees.
Whitney Gibbs, CEO of Compass Mining, stated, “As Compass continues to expand the services we offer, we are actively looking to make bitcoin mining accessible for everyone. With At-Home Mining, we are bringing Bitcoin mining back to its roots.”
The mining of bitcoin was a process anyone with a laptop could participate in. Over the years, mining has grown into its own multi-billion dollar industry dominated by large companies using thousands of platforms.
Small-scale miners were forced to pay premiums on hardware and electricity costs or were altogether squeezed out of the market. The company is moving forward to restore the ability to mine crypto back to individuals.
“Bitcoin was started by home miners, and now we are seeing a renaissance at home mining,” said Thomas Heller, the chief business officer of Compass mining. “We are proud of the work we have put into making Compass an industry leader, and we are confident this new offering will bring more people into bitcoin mining, which is good for the community as a whole.”
The buyers will have three models to buy bitcoin mining machines for the at-home service. These include the Whatsminer M31S+ model with 78 TH/s hashrate at $8,100, the Whatsminer M30S model with 88 TH/s hashrate at $9,750, and the Antminer S19 model with 95 TH/s hashrate at $10400.
The new product gives more flexibility and options of where to host machines and mine bitcoin. The company said sales going live today, at-home miners can expect hardware to arrive within 2-3 weeks of purchase. The company also highlighted that its support team would assist customers after their purchase. Moreover, the At-Home Mining service is currently only available to U.S customers.
