U.S President, Joe Biden plans to appoint Saule Omarova, a Cornell Law School professor to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, which is the regulatory authority to watch over the largest U.S Banks and Wall street. Bloomberg first reported the news based on unknown sources.
“I am deeply honored to be nominated for this role in President Biden’s administration,” Ms. Omarova said, “If confirmed, I will work hard to make sure that our banks remain stable, strong and serve the needs of the American people.”
Saule Omarova, who stated in the past that she wants to “end banking as we know it,” is going to be appointed by the President to run the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) by the end of this week.

OCC supervises leading and prominent moneylender institutions such as JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bank of America Corp., and Citigroup Inc.
Saule Omarova is expected to impose stricter rules and tougher oversight. This appointment is also raising questions from Wall Street’s Intellectuals. Because, it is still not clear whether Biden’s administration will support the agenda of Saule Omarova, such as moving consumer banking to the Federal Reserve from private institutions.
