The popular internet meme NFT, Side-Eyeing Chloe featuring a two-year-old girl, has been sold for 25 Ethereum (75,000 USD) to Dubai-based music production company 3F Music.
Side-Eyeing Chloe refers to a popular Video clip that has about 20 million views on YouTube. In 2013, a mother surprised her two daughters with a Disneyland trip. While one of her daughters Lily was ecstatic, another daughter Chloe was unimpressed and her expression became a famous meme.
Chloe’s mother, Katie films the reaction to her two children. No one in social media could have passed by without having a look at this meme image. The clip and screengrab of chole have been reproduced countless times as a meme.
Buzzfeed once claimed it was “The Only Reaction You’ll Need For Anything Ever.” The family sold the screengrab, a 660×371 image as an NFT.
“If we’re going based on meme sales before, it’s a bit lower, but we’re so grateful for what it sold for,” said Katie. “The money is awesome but it’s just the fact that we get to do this as a family is so much fun.”
The family plans to save ETH instead of converting all of it into cash. They think that in the continually changing world, it might be more valuable next week.
Initially, the price was bid for 5 ETH which approximated to $15,000. Fortunately, the auction finally closed off at about 25 ETH, which is about $75k. 3F purchased various meme NFTs in the crypto market which includes the Disaster Girl meme for $500,000.
