Designer of The Sims and SimCity, Will Wright, revealed a new NFT-driven game called Proxi.
According to the announcement The game is developed by the new team, which is formed by Wright, named Gallium Studios. Gallium Studios partnered with Forte Labs, a blockchain gaming platform, to develop the new game.
More than a decade after the development of SimCity, Wright has decided to come up with his new game, which is highly focused on blockchain technology. This is in some sense a game of self-discovery, uncovering one’s subconsciousness to make proxies of their mind. Players can create a memory, and visualize it with 3D drawings, audios, and photos.
“Proxi will actually let the users take ownership of their memory creations in the form of NFTs, and they are also making provisions in which they will allow the users to generate profits from selling those user-generated items while playing the game. According to the report, virtually every possible item in the game can be rendered into an NFT and resold to others if they wish to.”
The invention of NFTs, which are often known as digital arts, has also created new possibilities in the gaming world. NFTs are a type of crypto, which is unique and can’t be replaced or replicated.
The idea that Wright is building a game half with the Gallium team and half with the creator community itself, “is actually a really profound idea and it would be possible without blockchain,” said Kaiser Hwang, vice president of creativity and community at Forte.
If players create something in the game, they will own it as an NFT. For example, a person’s memories, or “snow globe,” will be an NFT. Virtually everything in Proxi will be an NFT and an in-game marketplace will conduct the transactions. The players can either trade or purchase NFTs using U.S dollars.
Last week, Snoop Dogg also announced the selling of 1,000 NFT passes of Private Ethereum Metaverse Party. He declared his partnership with SandBox for this.
