Solana based NFT project Iconics seems to have pulled off a rug pull and cheated clueless financial backers with $138k worth of Solana (SOL).
A 17 Years old 3D digital artist played out what’s referred to in crypto language as a “rugpull”. He did not follow the pre announced offer for a project and vanished with all the cash.
Iconics vowed to deliver 8,000 NFTs focused on “quality art.” The artwork appeared as 3D renders of puppets from the chest up and around 14 fine arts were introduced in its Discord as an example.
Yesterday a presale was held where 2000 NFTs were supposed to be sold at a base price of 0.5 SOL. However, rather than the artwork, each of the purchasers got irregular collections of emojis.
“Damn..@IconicsSol just Rugged. Did a presale for 2k at .5 and made off with I think 1000 SOL,” tweeted Sol Big Brain, an account famous in Solana NFT circle. “Sorry to anybody who took the L here. I minted a bunch also as the art looked good. Lesson Learned.”
His tweet drew the compassion of other NFT lovers locally with some of them urging that “people should begin putting names with projects”.
Survivors of the rug have made their own Discord channel to examine what occurred and to proceed with the task. Simultaneously, a declaration message urged influential purchasers to record claims with the FBI.
There are no more declarations in the Iconics Discord channel. He even deleted his Twitter account. The overall talk is as yet impaired as the Iconics Twitter account has been erased. It seems the artist carried off around 1,000 Solana (SOL) worth around $138k. The cash has effectively been parted across various records, as indicated by blockchain information.
Solana is becoming the second favourite blockchain for DeFi after Ethereum. However, last month Solana network suffered performance degradation, causing some nodes to go offline for over 16 hours.
