A group of Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) executives are headed to Washington, D.C. this week to explain to lawmakers in the hill and experts in the White House why the next generation of the internet should be regulated by them.
As part of their web3 model, a16z invests heavily in cryptocurrencies and other decentralized technologies.
The name of the officials is unknown but a16z said, “those meetings would include top leaders at the White House, executive agencies, regulators, House, and Senate members.”
As part of the team, Andreessen Horowitz will promote its vision for the successful regulation of the next generation of the web. It has defined what web3 is as, “a group of technologies that encompasses blockchain, cryptographic protocols, digital assets, decentralized finance, and social platforms.”
Even as policymakers continue to grapple with issues of Web 2.0, which is generally marked by social networks, a16z suggests looking ahead as a way to solve those problems and prepare for future challenges.
This meeting could be very crucial at a time when the US government is exploring ways to regulate Stablecoins and other Digital currencies.
a16z urged the United States to initiate a national strategy to facilitate the growth of world-class, decentralized digital solutions as greater economic opportunity, they believe it will play a decisive role.
