The owner of non-fungible token (NFT) CryptoPunk #6046 didn’t accept an offer worth 2,500 ETH (roughly $9.5 million). If the token had sold, it could have been the largest CryptoPunk sale ever by value.
On Larva Labs, the bidder, known as poap.eth, placed the bid just 15 hours after the CryptoPunk’s owner, known as Richerd, tweeted: “My punk is not for sale. I don’t care what anyone offers.”
His punk has rare traits that are rare in cryptopunks, such as 3D glasses (3% of CryptoPunks have them), cigarette in the mouth (10%), and ‘frumpy’ hair (4%).
The CryptoPunks Collection is a compilation of 10,000 randomly generated images created by the startup Larva Labs. CryptoPunks is the most popular NFT collection ever on OpenSea, selling over 551,000 ETH ($2.1 billion) in total, worldwide.Â
CryptoPunks have seen their value rise dramatically over the past two months. A single CryptoPunk was worth $93,000 on August 1st but is now worth approximately $465,000.
