France-based video game company, Ubisoft which is generating famous games such as Far Cry 6, For Honor, Rider Republic – concluded its Q2 earnings call this week. The discussion was mainly around blockchain.
As per the report there is 15% increase in unique active players in the first half of the year compared with previous year. Assassin’s creed Valhalla is the 2nd largest profit generating game in Ubisoft within a year.
According to the Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, has expressed his intention to invest in companies working with blockchain and also generate its own games.
Recently, Ubisoft is also funding blockchain gaming company Animoca Brands, a prominent investor in non-fungible tokens (NFT) and blockchain game developer.
“Blockchain will enable more play to earn that will enable more players to actually earn content, own content, and we think it’s going to grow the industry quite a lot,” stated Ubisoft CFO Frederick Duguet. “We’ve been working with lots of small companies going on blockchain and we’re starting to have a good know-how on how it can impact the industry, and we want to be one of the key players here.”
