- The NFTs are expected to include previously unseen footage from the movie .
- The collectibles will be auctioned on NFT marketplace OpenSea.
The legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino announced that he would auction seven “secret NFTs” featuring uncut Pulp Fiction scenes. As the first of their kind, these NFTs have content viewable only by their owners, making them more unique.
Tarantino’s collection will be distributed via SCRT Labs’ “Secret Network,” a layer 1 privacy-centered blockchain. According to a press release from Secret Network, the collectibles will be auctioned off on the world’s largest NFT marketplace, OpenSea.
On the Secret Network, Secret NFTs are tokens that are “private by default.” They enable users’ NFTs to contain either public or private metadata, allowing them to choose whether or not to display the content within to others. They may also decide whether or not to disclose their ownership of the blockchain.
Each NFT includes an uncut scene from the film as well as bonus content such as original handwritten script pages, new Tarantino commentary, and other information about the film and the director himself.
Tarantino stated that, “I’m excited to be presenting these exclusive scenes from PULP FICTION to fans. Secret Network and Secret NFTs provide a whole new world of connecting fans and artists and I’m thrilled to be a part of that.”
Tarantino talked about NFTs connecting the fans and the artists as most of the entertainment sector is already exploring and offering products through this system. Just recently even the Recording Academy announced their plans to release NFTs. A part of the revenue goes to the Recording Academy’s scholarship fund.
