In Brief:
- Hic et Nunc, Tezos blockchain-based NFT marketplace, stopped website operations.
- The developers left the message ‘discontinued’ via their Twitter handle.
- The sudden decision to take the website offline has left its users in shock.
Tezos’ most popular NFT marketplace, Hic et Nunc, suddenly decided on taking the website offline. The website is not accessible by users anymore. Consequently, the developers left the message ‘discontinued’ via their Twitter handle and tweeted the smart contract address as their goodbye message.
Though, a considerable amount of users tapped into the website on a daily basis. The unexpected move to take Hic et Nunc offline has shocked its platform users, making this event quite mysterious.
However, all images are stored on IPFS and NFTs in user wallets. Hence, no user will lose their NFTs. That’s the power blockchain technology holds and that’s the reason for transforming traditional storage systems into decentralized one. Even when a service goes offline, the NFT will continue to remain with its corresponding owners.
Hic et Nunc active users can simply click on the smart contract address link provided by the developers on the platform’s official Twitter account.
It is assumed that the developer, who goes by the name of Raf, got annoyed with the negative feedback on his work and simply pulled the plug on the website. However, smart contracts still exist from which one could make a new website that links to those contracts.
Hic et Nunc, often referred to as HeN, became one of the leading NFT marketplaces on the Tezos blockchain since its launch in May. The website was known for its simple design. Artists could easily mint their artworks, and the platform attracted a somewhat underground or niche audience. Also, Hic et Nunc was considered as a blockchain not based on mainstream Ethereum.
Last week, Hic et Nunc attracted over 16.000 unique active wallets that contributed to $1.69 million in transactional volume. The website’s sudden shut down took an unpredictable turn in its NFT journey.
Tezos is not the only blockchain to mint or create NFT, there are many blockchain alternatives for creators and collectors to explore such as Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, Tron, Flow, and Ripple.
