Keeping up with its crypto commitments, privacy-oriented browser Brave has introduced the Brave Wallet, a crypto wallet built into the Brave desktop browser.
On November 16, Brave made the announcement about the launch explaining its replacement of extension-based cryptocurrency wallet with a browser-native one.
This replacement will enable Brave users to manage, store, grow, and swap their crypto portfolio from a single wallet.
Users can now be involved in transactions with almost any crypto asset with utmost safety and performance, as well as connect with other wallets and Web3 DApps.
Most of the crypto wallets have browsing extensions and these extensions essentially have security risks. Hence, they are more susceptible to phishing and asset theft, and require extra background processes to run; thus causing performance glitches on users’ devices.
The Brave Wallet is a self-custody wallet that is built into the top-tier secured Web3 Brave browser. The Brave Wallet will let users connect with hardware wallets like Trezor & Ledger.
Users of Brave can continue to use other wallets like MetaMask or Brave’s Crypto Wallets. It is for the first time that all Brave users will have access to Web3 decentralized applications (DApps) even without installing browser extensions.
The wallet introduces many perks like sending and receiving NFTs, buying and receiving assets, buying Fiat via Wyre, or seeing live and historical market graphs and so on.
Brian Bondy, CTO and co-founder of Brave, “The crypto boom has vaulted blockchain applications into the mainstream, but like any rapidly-growing innovation, this swift rise is not without challenges. One of the hurdles is the crypto wallet industry’s reliance on extensions, which introduces friction for DApp adoption and often leads to users losing funds via fake extension phishing scams.”
The Brave Wallet is freely available on the desktop, whereas its mobile app will include the wallet soon.
Keeping in mind users’ perspective, Brave has been consistently striving to better the functionalities of wallet across all browser versions. In fact, Brave had recently announced its partnership with Solana to boost DeFi Adoption. With the advent of this new launch, one can only expect a great user experience from Brave.
