Major League Baseball superstar Shohei Ohtani joins FTX as their global ambassador. The global icon will be paid in cryptocurrency and receive equity in the company.
According to the press release, Ohtani will serve as a spokesperson for FTX, raising awareness of the company’s platform and digital assets in general on a worldwide scale through a range of initiatives.
In regards to the long-term relationship, FTX decided to donate to various charities on an annual basis on Ohtani’s behalf.
Founder and CEO of FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried, stated “Shohei has become a transcendent player in baseball in just a short period of time and this, combined with his support of digital assets, made it an easy choice to enter into a partnership with him. Off the field, Shohei has a passion for bettering the global community, something both he and FTX share, and we’re excited to partner with Shohei on various charitable initiatives, particularly with a focus on helping animals.”
This is not the first time FTX brought in sports stars as their brand ambassadors.
NFL star Tom Brady and NBA sensation Stephen Curry joined FTX trading Ltd as brand ambassadors this year, and both received equity shares as part of their deals.
