In Brief:
- NFL launches NFT tickets in partnership with Ticketmaster.
- Fans attending eligible games receive Virtual Commemorative Tickets as NFT.
- Each account holder is limited to one commemorative ticket per game.
The National Football League (NFL) announced its collaboration with Ticketmaster to launch NFT tickets this game season.
According to the press release, the fans attending NFL games this season will be able to receive a free “virtual commemorative ticket” in the form of NFT in a Ticketmaster digital wallet.
Virtual Commemorative Tickets are only available for a limited number of games. If a game attended is selected and if the fan is eligible, the NFL will contact them through email.
A set of commemorative NFT tickets by the NFL already went live yesterday via Ticketmaster and Polygon network.
Regardless of the number of tickets purchased, only one Virtual Commemorative Ticket is available per account holder per game.
Only ticket purchasers are eligible to receive a Virtual Commemorative Ticket, not ticket transfer recipients.
Fans must attend the game and scan their Ticketmaster Safetix ticket to receive the actual NFT commemorative ticket.
NFL fans must have purchased their game ticket through Ticketmaster, StubHub, SeatGeek, or a team’s corresponding ticket office to claim their NFT.
As the NFL has joined the NFT bandwagon along with other sports leagues the hype is only going to increase from now on.
Earlier in September, the NFL announced its partnership with Dapper Labs to develop its own NFT collectible marketplace on the Flow blockchain, similar to the company’s NBA Top Shot. Users are able to buy and sell NFTs of NFL sports highlights on the new platform.
