In Brief:
- Macy’s to celebrate the 95th Thanksgiving Day parade anniversary with the launch of NFTs.

- Make-A-Wish foundation will receive the profits from the sales.
Macy’s announced the release of its first-ever NFT series to celebrate the 95th anniversary of its annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
As stated in the press release, the NFT series will feature some of the Thanksgiving day parade balloon themes dated to 1920. The NFTs will be distributed based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Macy’s will release a collection of 9,510 NFTs at the NFT platform ‘Sweet’ built on the sustainable Polygon blockchain confirming its carbon-neutral nature.
The first phase of the special auction kicked off yesterday featuring 10 epic Macy’s collectibles featuring the parade balloons.
Tiptoe, a new reindeer character Macy’s launched this year, claimed the highest bid of $1,700.
The parade enthusiasts can claim the free NFTs and enter sweepstakes to win $10,000 from the series from November 25th onwards. The auction is to continue till November 30 at 11:59 PM ET.
REOMETRY, a digital agency led by NFT artists REO and Seth Brown, created the NFTs based on “Macy’s archival and creative content.”
The special auction’s profits will be donated to Make-A-Wish Foundation, and every time one of the parade’s unique NFTs is resold, a 10% residual fee from the sale price is automatically forwarded to Make-A-Wish.
Executive Producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Will Coss, stated, “To celebrate that history, we created art in a new form through NFTs that would bring the magic of the Parade to a new generation while raising funds for our partner Make-A-Wish.”
NFT collection release is becoming the new trend in how different platforms or sectors are celebrating some of their monumental days.
At the beginning of November, McDonald’s USA released a NFT collection to celebrate McRib’s 40th anniversary.
Customers were encouraged to follow @McDonalds on Twitter and retweet the Sweepstakes Invitation tweet from their public account between Nov. 1 and 7 to win the NFT pieces.
