- Sotheby’s collaborates with Sostento to launch a NFT charity auction.
- The auction titled Gifted: The 140 Collection is set to go live on Sotheby’s Metaverse.
- The profit from the auction will be given to Sustento’s healthcare workers.
Art and luxury auction house, Sotheby’s, announced its collaboration with Sostento to launch the largest NFT charity auction.
Sostento is a public health care advocate and nonprofit organization. It is planning to auction off its newest NFT collection through Sotheby’s Metaverse.
Gifted: The 140 Collection, is regarded as Sotheby’s biggest NFT charity auction ever.
The NFT collection is inspired by Twitter, which earlier in June tweeted “140 free NFTs for 140 of you, besties” and launched the original “140 Collection” of Twitter NFTs.
The Gifted collection was created by seven of the lucky strangers who were randomly selected to receive one of the 140 exclusive NFTs, who have banded together to auction off a full set of seven NFTs.
The proceeds will be going to Sostento health care workers who fought against the Covid-19 pandemic and the opioid overdose crisis.
The auction begins at 5 p.m. GMT and will continue until November 30 on Sotheby’s Metaverse.
The Giving Block is one of Sostento’s partners, and it provides a platform for mission-driven charities, organizations, universities, and faith-based groups of all sizes to use crypto and accept cryptocurrency funding.
According to Joe Agoada, CEO of Sostento, the proceeds from this sale will be processed by the Giving Block before being “invested directly into fulfilling our mission to help frontline healthcare workers save lives.”
Sotheby’s launched the Sotheby’s Metaverse platform last month where visitors will be able to view digital artworks up for auction and learn about NFT artists and collectors.
