Regal, a subsidiary of Cineworld Group, has now partnered with Flexa to open access to digital currency payments for patrons around the world.
As per the announcement, Regal is accepting instant payments mode including cryptocurrencies like bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH), litecoin (LTC), and dogecoin (DOGE) along with digital dollars and Stablecoins such as USD Coin (USDC), Dai (DAI), and Gemini dollar (GUSD).
Regal is also accepting digital tokens including LINK, ATOM, Basic Attention Token (BAT), and much more.
Flexa is trying to help Regal offer better payment alternatives with as many different assets and across as many different protocols (including the Lightning Network) as possible.
For example, when paying at Regal with Flexa-backed apps, guests will soon be able to link their Regal Crown Club loyalty account for special rewards.
Trevor Filter, Co-founder of Flexa, commented, “Flexa is committed to helping merchants enable easier, faster, and safer payment options for their customers, and that’s just one of the reasons we’re incredibly proud to work with Regal, whose dedication to creating an enjoyable and widely accessible cinematic experience for their loyal patrons is second to none”.
As of 31 October 2021, Regal, the operator of one of the largest and most geographically diverse theatre circuits in the United States has more than 6,885 screens in 514 theatres. The three main theatre lines administered by Regal Entertainment Group are Regal Cinemas, Edwards Theatres, and United Artists Theatres.
Being the second largest global cinema exhibitor after AMC, Regal too, seems to follow the suit. The testimony to this is that AMC with its candid inclination towards the crypto industry had recently been working to include Shiba Inu in the list of many other cryptocurrencies that it already accepts.
With movie buffs enjoying the privilege of digital currency modes, one can only expect Cryptos to soon take over other arenas for better customer experience.
