Linkin Park’s Frontman Mike Shinoda released new music titled Ziggurats in a generative NFT series format on the Tezos blockchain.
Shinoda’s Ziggurats is also the first generative NFT mixtape. The NFT series consists of 5,000 mini-mixtapes.
Songs with the same lyrics but different cover art and music will be featured in each NFT in the Ziggurats series.
The fact that the series’ music and graphics will be generated by a computer algorithm based on pre-selected inputs is what sets it apart.
Collectors can view this NFT on their wallets, at the ziggurats.xyz and on many secondary marketplaces of tezos like objkt.com.
The Linkin Park vocalist stated on Discord that, “I liked the idea of a program taking elements and mixing-and-matching to create different outputs. Creating collectible pieces—each one unique. But I wanted to do it with music.”
The NFT mixtape went live on Tezos blockchain, with the starting price of each NFT being 15 XTZ.
Mike picked Tezos for this project because it’s a green NFT using around two million times less energy than Ethereum or Bitcoin.
Unlike other NFT launches from various artists and developers which all had a roadmap offering prizes, merchandise, etc Ziggurats opted for a different method and decided to be flexible with their upcoming events with no kind of roadmap given out.
Users who do not wish to purchase the NFT will be able to listen to a rendition of the song on streaming platforms.
