The famous Canadian electronic music producer and DJ, Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman) and Grammy award-winning indie rock band, Portugal The Man (PTM) have collaborated to release one million copies of their new song “This is Fine” as an NFT.
As per the announcement, each non-fungible token, NFT, is being sold for 0.25 NEAR per piece, or around $2.20.
The unique artwork is a joint creation of Smearballs, the artist who has his previous works featured in Deadmau5’s music videos and Wooden Cyclops, the art director of Portugal The Man.
Released on Deadmau5’s label, “Mau5trap”, the single aims to be the first NFT to go platinum. Interestingly, a certified platinum sale is “one million units.”
After minting one million pieces on the NEAR protocol blockchain, the artist has released them on marketplace Mintbase. A quarter of a million units are available for sale during Art Basel’s “Miami Beach” art show on December 02.
As for the remaining singles, they will be sold as a mix of single units and bundled units, each with unique hallmarks. The prices for bundled units is yet to be decided.
The collectors of this NFT will receive rewards and multiple metaverse integrations as per the announcement.
Deadmau5 has had his share of experience in the NFT market. In November, Deadmau5 released a new NFT collection titled head5 for Deadmau5’s metaverse adventure.
