In Brief:
- Chainlink labs announced Eric Schmidt has joined as a strategic advisor.
- Schmidt will lead a team working to build a global software platform for years to come.
Oracle solution provider Chainlink Labs announced the joining of Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt as its strategic advisor. Chainlink develops oracle networks to connect real-world data with smart contracts powering mainstream blockchain adoption.
Schmidt will guide scaling strategy as Chainlink emerges as the global standard for connecting blockchains worldwide. He will lead the team working to build a global software platform for next-generation breakthroughs.
Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov confirmed Schmidt joining the company saying Chainlink oracles and Blockchain networks are at a critical inflection point in terms of growth and adoption. As Chainlink Labs works with institutions and developers especially in this tech-savvy era of economic transparency and fairness, Eric’s knowledge and insights into establishing global software platforms will be vital.
Schmidt also showed enthusiasm for his new role stating blockchains and smart contracts have a major impact in building new business models. It has become quite clear that one of the blockchain’s greatest advantages is a lack of connection to the world outside itself, yet it is also its biggest challenge. He further said that Chainlink is a secret ingredient to tap into smart contracts’ potential and revolutionize business as well as society.
He also said – “I am excited to be helping the Chainlink Labs team build a world powered by truth.”
Chainlink Labs has various large partnerships for Schmidt to demonstrate his leadership role. In October, the Associated press tapped Chainlink to bring trusted news data on blockchains. Chainlink has been working aggressively on its plan to integrate oracle services in hybrid smart contracts. This month Chainlink announced integration with CitaDAO to unlock tokenized real estate data.
