Financial offerings platform Robinhood is considering adding a feature that allows users to transmit crypto to each other through digital gift cards, according to code uncovered in a beta version of Robinhood’s iPhone app.
According to a Bloomberg report, the gifting feature will enable users to transmit crypto via digital gift cards that can be accompanied by messages up to 180 characters in length as revealed by the code.
Users who send a crypto gift will be able to cancel it before it is accepted at any moment. Developer Steve Moser spotted the feature’s hidden code in a beta version of the app.
For the time being, the gifting feature is not yet enabled to be utilized by Robinhood users. The launch of the new feature has yet to be determined by the company.
Other crypto firms such as Coinbase already offer crypto cards where users can also gift coins to one another via conventional cryptocurrency transactions between crypto wallets.
The gifting option would be a step forward for Robinhood’s cryptocurrency expansion efforts. Spare change investment and the opportunity to accept direct deposits early are two other upcoming features disclosed via the code.
In the past, code disclosures have revealed forthcoming Robinhood features such as the crypto wallet feature. Just a day back, blockchain platform Chainalysis announced its collaboration with Robinhood where it will rely on Chainalysis data and tools in order to meet compliance standards before its crypto wallet launch.
By early 2022, Robinhood anticipates its cryptocurrency wallet to be available to its users.
