In Brief:
- Melania Trump launches ‘Melania’s Vision’ NFTs on the “Melania Trump NFT” platform.
- The NFT includes a watercolor painting of her cobalt blue eyes and a 10-second audio message.
- The venture will support Melania Trump’s Be Best public awareness campaign.
Melania Trump, the former first lady of the United States, launched her own NFT platform and released NFTs titled ‘Melania’s vision’ on the site as the first set of offerings.
Melania’s Vision includes a watercolor painting of her “cobalt blue eyes” and a 10-second audio message from the former First Lady and is now on sale on Melania’s website until December 31.
The “Melania Trump NFT” platform will utilize the Solana blockchain to set the NFTs live, and MoonPay to process cryptocurrency and credit card payments, according to the announcement.
The collectibles are selling for one Solana coin, which is equal to just over $185, according to CoinGecko.
Melania Trump’s NFT platform appears to be powered by Parler, a well-known American microblogging and social networking platform with a large user base of Trump supporters, conservatives, far-right extremists, etc.
However both Moonpay and Solana responded with confusion following Melania’s NFT launch announcement.
As in Moonpay’s case, the firm explained on Twitter that it is not a partner and has “no official role” in Melania Trump’s new NFT platform. MoonPay spokeswoman Cat Ommanney stated that Trump’s staff had never approached the firm.
A spokesperson from Solana Labs emphasized that the network is not responsible for Melania’s NFT project’s arrival on its network.
“I wanted to inform you, to avoid any confusion, that her choice to use the Solana blockchain was completely organic, and this project is not part of any Solana-led initiative.”
Melania also intends to launch more NFT items on this platform, with a future auction scheduled for January 11th, 2022.
Unlike his wife, the former president of the United States Mr. Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his opposition to digital assets. Trump stated in June of this year that Bitcoin is a threat to the US dollar. He even went so far as to call Bitcoin a “scam.”
The NFT project will support Melania Trump’s Be Best public awareness campaign, and she will give a part of earnings from the NFT sale to support children aging out of the foster care system.
Melania intends to launch more NFT collections in the future, as well as hold an auction on January 11, 2022, featuring both digital and physical artwork, as well as an undisclosed “physical one-of-a-kind accessory.”
