In Brief:
- OpenNode integrates with Travala.com to execute faster Bitcoin transactions with less fees
- The integration will use Lightning Network for Bitcoin payments
Bitcoin payment service company, OpneNode has announced a partnership with Travala.com to enhance the bitcoin payment service through Lightning Network for travelers around the world. The company has posted a tweet regarding this collaboration.
Travala.com is currently offering more than 3 million travel activities across the globe, including flights, hotels, and other activities.
Juan Otero, CEO of Travala.com, commented “The Lightning Network is a significant and much-needed step for global crypto adoption. At Travala.com, we’re constantly exploring ways to further bridge the gap between blockchain and travel, so working with OpenNode to enable Bitcoin payments on the Lightning Network was a natural fit for us to continue innovating towards the future of travel.”
Travala is already accepting Bitcoin, although the collaboration will provide a boost to Bitcoin payments, which will take less processing fees and execute faster transactions. The company has mentioned in a blog post that the integration can “improve their current Bitcoin services”.
OpenNode Head of Marketing Ryan Flowers said in the release the partnership “can showcase that bitcoin can act as a medium of exchange and improve payments for the entire travel industry. The travel industry suffers from the downfalls of traditional currencies such as chargeback fraud, long settlement times, and high processing fees, and with bitcoin payments on the Lightning Network, we can solve all of these issues.”
With the expansion of cryptoverse, many sectors are planning to take cryptocurrency as a payment. In August, OpenNode has also locked a deal with the publishing platform, Substack to offer a bitcoin payment service.
