In Brief:
- BAYC NFTs have topped the floor price of CryptoPunks NFT.
- The floor price of BAYC is 53.9 ETH ($215,350) and that of CryptoPunk NFT is 52.69 ETH ($210,515).
For the first time, the floor price of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection has topped that of Larva Labs’ CryptoPunks.Â
The floor price of BAYC NFT which is 53.9 ETH ($215,350) is the lowest price at which a type of NFT is currently available for sale. On the other hand, the floor price of a CryptoPunks NFT is 52.69 ETH ($210,515).
It is worth mentioning that BAYC NFTs, launched in April of this year are much newer to the market than CryptoPunks seen as the OG NFTs which were launched in 2017.
Both BAYC NFTs and CryptoPunks are a collection of 10,000 unique digital collectibles on the Ethereum blockchain.
Speaking of the CryptoPunks collection, CryptoPunk #7523, one of the punks, was sold for a whopping $11.8 million at the auction. Whileon Larva Labs’ native marketplace the highest sale price to date was for CryptoPunk #4156 for $10.26 million.
The flip has garnered reactions from both BAYC fans and CryptoPunks too. Infact, Snoop Dogg seemingly ‘trolled’ BAYC fans by listing Cryptopunk #3831 at 7,000ETH ($23.21M).
The flip can be attributed to the fact that BAYC NFTs have generous IP rights as compared to CryptoPunks. As a result, CryptoPunks NFT owners can not use their NFTs for any commercial purpose, whereas BAYC NFT owners get IP rights.
With these IP rights, BAYC announced plans to build a ‘blockchain-based game’ in partnership with Animoca Brands which is to be launched in Q2 2022.
