El Salvador President Nayib Bukele, who has been instrumental in bringing Bitcoin to the public in the nation, announced that they purchased an additional 21 Bitcoins to celebrate the last 21st day of the year 21 of the 21st century.
President Bukele via a Twitter quote thread stated that El Salvador’s entire area is approximately 21,000 square kilometers, hinting at the 21 Bitcoin purchase.
According to Bukele, it also honors the scarcity of Bitcoin, whose supply is restricted to 21 million coins.
According to CoinGecko data, BTC was trading just above $49,000 at the time of purchase.
Since September, when Bitcoin became legal tender in El Salvador, the president has been constantly buying the dip. The most recent purchase was less expensive, but it was made to commemorate an occasion rather than to acquire the dip itself.
Purchasing Bitcoin is increasingly becoming a means for El Salvador to commemorate special milestones and to dabble with significant dates. El Salvador celebrated Black Friday on Nov. 26 by purchasing 100 bitcoins at a price of roughly $54,000 each bitcoin, totaling their whole stash to 1,220 bitcoins.
