PwC Hong Kong, the subsidiary of Animoca Brands, purchased land in the Sandbox Metaverse platform.
PwC Hong Kong is the first member of an international professional services firm to obtain land in the virtual plot of The Sandbox, according to Animoca Brands.
Apparently, PwC Hong Kong aims to build a Web 3.0 advising center to facilitate a new generation of professional services, including accounting and taxation.
The price of today’s transaction was not disclosed and there are no details available on that matter.
“We will leverage our expertise to advise clients who wish to embrace the Metaverse on the full range of challenges presented by this emerging global digital phenomenon,” stated William Gee, a partner at PwC Hong Kong.
PwC, the global organization based in London, United Kingdom, reported $45 billion in revenue from June 2020 to June 2021, up 2% from the previous year.
On LANDs, which are basically NFTs that represent virtual real estate in The Sandbox, users can construct and monetize their own unique worlds and game experiences.
SAND, the Sandbox’s native cryptocurrency token, set a new high of $6.13 today, the highest since last month. At the time of writing, the coin has gained 16.7% in the last 24 hours and is valued at $6.25.
Other companies have purchased land in The Sandbox in the past. In late November, Adidas purchased land in the virtual reality game. The Walking Dead, Atari, South China Morning Post, and Snoop Dogg, as well as family brands The Care Bears and The Smurfs, have all partnered with the platform.
