Airbnb soon could be accepting cryptocurrency payments. Brian Chesky, the company’s CEO, revealed on Twitter that using crypto payments to book rooms is the top request for this year.
Chesky requested his Twitter followers for Airbnb recommendations on January 3rd. After evaluating nearly 4,000 responses, the CEO drew the conclusion that the demand for cryptocurrencies is obviously on the top.
Clear price displays, a guest loyalty program, revised cleaning fees, more long-term accommodations and discounts, better customer care were the other suggestions below crypto payment support.
While Chesky hasn’t confirmed anything, he did say that most of the listed items were already in the works.
Chesky claims to include a wide range of token ideas, implying that Airbnb’s future cryptocurrency payment options will not be restricted to just one or two tokens.
Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay are presently accepted by Airbnb. Since 2013, Airbnb has collected $336 billion in payments, according to Chesky.
In its IPO filing, Airbnb declared that in order to stay successful in the future, it needed to adapt to cutting-edge technology like cryptocurrencies and blockchain.
Recently a lot of organizations and big billionaires are showing their liking towards supporting crypto payments. Last November theater chain Regal started to accept a variety of crypto tokens as payments via a partnership with Flexi app. Just in December Tesla CEO Elon Musk also hinted at accepting Dogecoin as payment for merch.
