Dinesh S P and Janaganandhini Ramaswamy will attend Hogwarts theme-based reception after getting married on the first Sunday in February. The mad love of both for the Harry Potter movie has inspired them to decide the reception theme.
Janaganandhini is excited about “India’s first Metaverse marriage. It’s apt in a way as we met on Instagram and will be having our wedding reception on Meta,” she said.
Dinesh revealed that the idea of virtual marriage came after the death of the bride’s father. To make her feel his father’s presence, Dinesh decided to add his father’s 3D avatar in the metaverse.
The family members and friends will receive a login ID and Passwords to enter into metaverse in customizable avatars. The bride and groom will have avatars with traditional clothes.
The reception will be organized for one hour, where people will be able to make conversation with each other. Moreover, invited guests also can send gifts through gift vouchers, Google Pay, or cryptos.
“We are accepting marriage gifts via Metaverse,” said Dinesh. “Guests can transfer gift vouchers or Google Pay, and we are also accepting cryptos as a gift.”
“I came up with the idea of having a Metaverse wedding reception, and my fiancee also liked the idea,” Dinesh, who is a project associate with IIT Madras, told TOI. “I have been into crypto and blockchain technology, and have been mining Ethereum, a form of cryptocurrency, for the last one year. Since blockchain is the basic technology of Metaverse when my wedding was fixed, I thought of having a reception in Metaverse,” he added.
To achieve the digital marriage goal, Dinesh has contacted Vignesh Selvaraj, founder of Tardiverse. Tardiverse is the Indian-based metaverse startup with the collaboration with Polygon blockchain.
Last Year, In April, a couple from California got married on the Ethereum blockchain after exchanging NFT rings on the network.
