The reigning UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou has partnered up with mobile payment firm Cash App to get half of his next UFC 270 fight purse in Bitcoin.
“The Predator” is expected to square off against Ciryl Gane, a former teammate in the main event of UFC 270 set to take place on 22nd January. Through Cash App — it is reported that he is guaranteed roughly a base pay of $750,000 USD.
“Bitcoin is the way of the future, and I believe in it,” the French Cameroonian boxer remarked.
The amount of money paid by Cash App for this endorsement has not been published, however Ngannou will give away $300,000 USD in Bitcoin to his supporters as a gesture to “make Bitcoin more accessible.”
“After doing a lot of research on Bitcoin, I really believe it is the future of money, man. Bitcoin is valuable, secure, and no one can mess with it,” said UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
