Global soccer sensation Neymar Jr. joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT frenzy. The Brazilian star bought two Bored Ape NFTs for $1 million, becoming the newest elite BAYC member.
Neymar revealed his BAYC NFT with a tweet saying, “I am an ape!”. He now owns two BAYC NFTs including, Ape #6633 and #5269. The pink ape #6633 wearing a birthday cap, bow-tie suit, flashy glasses, and blowing bubblegum is his current Twitter profile picture.
According to OpenSea’s history, the soccer star spent 159.99 ETH for the pink ape, that’s around $455.4K taking the current ETH price as a reference. His other Ape NFT #5269 is worth 189.69 ETH, approximately $539k.
Among these, Neymar’s most valuable ape has laser eyes, a trend popular among maximalist bitcoiners who believe that bitcoin’s price will soon touch the $100k mark. The Apes were transferred from Neymar’s “EneJay” account to another one under the name “EneJayVault,” presumably for security reasons.
Neymar owns other NFTs as well such as one from the ACESnikers fashion collection, others from flipped Cryptopunks, flipped BAYC, and flipped Doodles. Interestingly, He also owns the ENS neymar-loves-rarepepes.eth, in case anyone wants to transfer him any NFT about the popular “crypto meme.”
Well, Neymar is not the only newbie in BAYC, this month Eminem also bought BAYC #9055, which he flaunted as his Twitter bio picture. While celebrities were busy putting NFTs as their Twitter profile pics, Twitter came up with amazing features on the platform named “Twitter blue” for iOS support. The feature enabled iOS users to set collected NFTs as a profile picture. The flashy profile pic trend has just begun!
