In Brief:
- Twitter adds Twitter Blue feature for iOS users to set NFTs as profile pictures.
- Users can only set NFTs minted from Ethereum with ERC-721 and ERC-1155 standards.
- Users can only access Twitter Blue through a paid subscription of $2.99 per month.
Twitter came up with amazing features on the platform named ‘Twitter blue’ for iOS support. iOS users now can add their collected NFTs as a profile picture by connecting their crypto wallets.
Right now, users only can access Twitter Blue through a paid subscription of $2.99 per month. As per the video posted on Twitter, users can set their NFTs as a profile picture by connecting crypto wallets such as Coinbase Wallet, Rainbow, MetaMask, Trust Wallet, Argent, or Ledger Live.
For the Twitter Blue users, the authentic NFT profile pictures will be shown with a new hexagon-shaped mask. This new hexagon profile picture will substitute the standard circular profile picture that can be found on the timeline of any Twitter account.
The function undoubtedly requires that a Twitter user owns an NFT, not just an image of an NFT retrieved unofficially.
This new feature also enables NFT owners to display their stats. When you click on a hexagonal NFT profile picture, it displays information about what makes that NFT unique.
New features can provide info about each other’s NFT avatars, such as their owners, creators, description of the series. Also, they can check and verify the authenticity of NFTs from third-party platforms such as Opensea, Rarible.
Twitter has also ensured that data privacy will not be compromised through this feature. The company will only keep track of crypto wallet addresses to check whether the address holder holds any NFTs. Also, Only iOS users can set profile pictures through Twitter Blue and that will appear across all platforms.
Twitter Blue is still in its infancy and supports only static pictures in JPEG and PNG files minted from the Ethereum blockchain. Users can not upload any GIF or motion images to profile pictures as of now. The tokens must consist of ERC-721 and ERC-1155 token standards.
Twitter’s been working on NFT Profile Verification since last year. In September, The company shared the first look of this feature. Before this, Twitter has also added tip features for iOS users to reward their favorite creators.
