Disney is dropping its most iconic Mickey and Friends NFT collection, in collaboration with VeVe, a digital collectibles platform. This collection features First Edition character lenticular interactive cards, celebrating some of its favorite friends: Daisy Duck, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Minnie Mouse, and the show stealer, Mickey Mouse!
The faces of these cute cards are designed and hand-painted by Disney artists Naty Kosloff and Morgane Keesling. The background of these cards is personalized to match every character. Also, lenticular technology provides a closer look at the character on the card to view it from a new angle.
In addition to that, each character has custom music, and flipping a card over shows a special autograph. These colorful and imaginative NFT cards will be available as a blind box, meaning buyers won’t know the rarity of the collectible until after they bought it.Â
To expand the collection, one can buy additional blind boxes, or interact with other users in the Market to complete the set. The cards are available with several rarity categories including common, uncommon, Rare, Ultra Rare, and Secret Rare.
Each collectible’s list price is $40. A 6% licensor fee will be applied to Disney sales in the secondary market in addition to the existing VeVe 2.5% secondary market fee.
As per the blog, character name, editions, and rarity, in that order, are as follows:
- Mickey Mouse:13,928 editions, Common.
- Minnie Mouse: 13,928 editions, Common.
- Donald Duck: 9,999 editions, Uncommon.
- Daisy Duck: 8,888 editions, Rare.
- Pluto: 6,666 editions, Ultra Rare.
- Goofy: 4,444 editions, Secret Rare.
These pieces are a part of Mickey and Friends – Series 1, which will be available globally exclusively on the VeVe app for iOS and Android. The drop date is 29 January at 8 AM PT.
Last year, VeVe was jam-packed with several NFT drops. Marvel sold NFTs of Fantastic Four comics in minutes on VeVe. Last month, VeVe launched DC Artist Alley S1 NFT collectibles as well. These recent NFT drops indicate that more entertainment companies will dip their toe in the NFT space.
