The world’s largest athletic apparel company Nike is determined to stake its claim in the metaverse. The company is building its metaverse team and hiring for key positions to expand its footprint in the tech world.
Over the last week, Nike has posted five key roles to hire talents for its metaverse ambition or related functions in what it described as its Technology Innovation Office.
In its job posting, the company is looking to hire a metaverse director, whose role would be to lead the development of Nike’s “rapid end-to-end proof of concepts, prototypes, as well as production of metaverse software and device solutions.”
Other job titles posted on Linkedin include senior 3D game designer or metaverse engineer, principal innovation designer for the metaverse, expert innovation program manager for blockchain, and a virtual material designer.
Nike is seeking to explore a broad range of metaverse technologies from web3 to the spatial web, as the company looks to break into the virtual space. As per the job description, the candidate must possess knowledge of technologies, blockchain ecosystems, culture including, DLTs, cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, dApps, DAOs, NFTs, crypto wallets, and more.
The metaverse is getting a boost from many tech giants such as Microsoft, Apple, and many more. Today, Apple stock jumped after CEO Tim Cook revealed the company’s metaverse AR plans.
Considering Nike vs Adidas timeless tussle, Adidas fetching $23 million from its metaverse NFT series prompted Nike to participate as well. Amid talent wars among tech giants, Nike is scrambling to seize on the opportunity to deliver ground-breaking technology innovation products and services.
