The latest blog post of YouTube revealed its stance over the booming blockchain technology, non-fungible tokens (NFT) and the upcoming Web 3 revolution.
In a blog, YouTube’s Chief Product Officer Neal Mohan stated that he sees the incredible potential in NFT to help creators for a better connection with their fans. Currently, the NFT trend is at its peak. Many famous creators, social media influencers and celebrities are coming on NFT platforms to create opportunities for fans to mint NFTs from their favorite creators.
According to the blog post, Creators can tokenize their videos, photos, art, and experiences as an NFT to interact with their fans.
Mohan stated that “Web3 also opens up new opportunities for creators. We believe new technologies like blockchain and NFTs can allow creators to build deeper relationships with their fans. Together, they’ll be able to collaborate on new projects and make money in ways not previously possible.”
Also, Mohan wrote about metaverse: “Finally, we couldn’t have a piece about innovation without touching on the Metaverse! We’re thinking big about how to make viewing more immersive. The first area in which you can expect to see an impact is gaming, where we’ll work to bring more interactions to games and make them feel more alive.”
The blog post indicates Youtube’s possible invasion into metaverse gaming platforms.
The blog post just came after the statement from YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki. She has revealed that Youtube is planning to integrate NFT features on the platform.
