Customers in South Korea will be able to pre-book and pre-order Samsung’s new flagship device models, the Galaxy S22 and Tablet S8 and will receive their own unique NFT through their new device after the pre-order period finishes.
Pre-orders began on February 9, and the devices will be available for purchase on February 25.
Customers will be able to claim their free NFTs by registering on ThetaDrop, Theta network’s NFT marketplace, with the unique code they received after verification through their “Samsung Members” app.
According to Mitch Liu, CEO, and co-founder of Theta Labs,
“We plan to provide ongoing membership benefits and privileges to Galaxy customers who own a Samsung Theta commemorative NFT and look forward to building a long-term community among members.”
Mitch Liu, co-founder, and CEO of Theta Labs stated that Samsung’s decision to use Theta Networks illustrated the network’s global adoption as the go-to blockchain for video, media, and entertainment projects.
Theta Labs is the team behind the blockchain project Theta Network, as well as THETA.tv, a crypto-native video streaming service. ThetaDrop is fueled by the Theta protocol and a native blockchain designed specifically for media and entertainment.
This isn’t Samsung’s first foray into the world of cryptocurrency, nor is it its first collaboration with the Theta Network. Currently, Samsung celebrated the success of its metaverse initiative with Zepeto “My House” topping with over 4 million views, where the users can decorate their virtual space with electronics items, furniture, fabrics, and more.
