OpenSea joined hands with Web3 interaction platform Metalink to launch a channel for better customer support after suffering from multiple communication issues since the start of the year.
After its Discord channel was breached by fraudsters impersonating its support team members, the community was unable to establish a direct connection to the OpenSea team. So OpenSea decided to move to a more secure communication platform.
Metalink provides safe and secure channels of communication, protecting the community. There will be a dedicated OpenSea server toward the bottom of the collection menu on Metalink.
Owners of Metalink’s supported collections will be able to communicate directly with OpenSea as a result of this new collaboration. They can get help, provide feedback, and receive all updates.
Right now Metalink supports Cryptopunks, Bored Ape Yacht Club, World of Women, Cool Cats, Doodles, Cyberkongz, Cryptoadz, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and Coolman’s Universe NFT collections and is planning to add more collections from OpenSea in the near future.
“We will have dedicated community support staff from OpenSea spending a few hours a day in Metalink. All of whom will be marked as verified OpenSea staff [throughout the Metalink platform],” Stevey Tromberg, head of community at OpenSea, noted.
OpenSea’s Discord server is still operational and will be used for a variety of other types of formal communication from the platform.
Recently hackers gained access to OpenSea and stole $1 million in NFTs by exploiting a flaw in the platform. Bored Ape Yacht Club, Cool Cats, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, and CyberKongz collection were the exploited collection and hackers bought NFTs as per the old listing price and sold them at higher prices. Later the platform announced $1.8M in compensation after facing criticism.
