Social media platform, Twitter added one more digital currency “ETH” for its tipping jar features. Now users can send tips to their favorite content creators in Ether via Ethereum address.
In September 2021, Twitter invaded the crypto space with the launch of Bitcoin payments for the tipping jar. To reduce fees on transactions, Twitter uses Strike’s lightning network to execute Bitcoin transactions.
Twitter is continuously adding up new features on the platform to expand crypto and NFT space. Recently, Twitter revealed the Twitter blue feature which enables iOS users to set their NFTs as a profile picture.
The launch also came up with the strings of partnership with international payment networks including Paga, Paytm, and Barter by Flutterwave. The partnership will help in the expansion of tipping users in Nigeria, India and Ghana.
Like Twitter, digital currencies operate without global barriers. We’re excited to incorporate Ethereum in addition to Bitcoin payment in Tips, enabling more people to participate in the digital economy with as little friction as possible,” said a Twitter spokesperson.
Twitter Users who wish to receive ETH tips need to activate the platform’s tipping features. Users must require Ethereum addresses and ENS (Ethereum Name Service) names are not compatible with this feature.
