Governor of Colorado, Jared Polis met Ethereum blockchain founder Vitalik Buterin at ETHDenver to make Colorado the first complete digital state in the nation. Collaboratively, Jared Polis wants to explore new digital currency policies into existing state architecture.
ETHDenver is the giant annual festival for the Web 3 community, innovation, and blockchain at the Denver Sports Castle, which was started on Feb 11 and closing will be on Feb 20.
The aim of this event is to find out new blockchain projects and developers that can contribute to society with fruitful innovations.
Jared has discussed blockchain use cases in the digitalization of the state with a good quality of life as well as for financial infrastructure.
“Blockchain is a transformative technology bringing real change to Coloradans, and I am proud that Colorado is a national leader in blockchain innovation,” said Governor Polis in an early statement. “By attracting good jobs and innovators in infrastructure, digital identity and individual data security, blockchain is a meaningful investment in improving Coloradans’ lives.”
This is the first time in U.S history when community DAO and state government joined hands to explore blockchain benefits for the country.
Governor of Colorado state already stated that he is planning to enable people to pay their tax and buy licenses in crypto by mid-2022. If this happens, Colorado will become the first state to accept crypto payments in the U.S.
However, many other states have introduced their own digital currencies such as MiamiCoin, NYCCoin for revenue collection.
Historically, Governor Polis has been a vocal advocate of cryptocurrency. During his time as a Colorado congressman in 2014, he became one of the first U.S. politicians to openly accept campaign donations in bitcoin.
