The electronic music scene is about to go Bananas; the tag line comes from one of the headliners of this year’s Tomorrowland, Ape Rave Club. Ape Rave Club will be the first-ever live performance by an NFT artist at a major event.
Ape Rave Club, a digital artist, was born out of the Bored Ape Yacht Club(BAYC), whose NFTs are owned by the likes of Justin Beiber and Eminem. The digital artist will headline the massively popular event on July 24th alongside some of the most notable artists of the electronic dance music genre.
Along with performing at this 600,000 people attended and millions more live streamed event, the digital artist also plans to release crypto-native blockchain-based music via NFT platforms.
Aiming to be one of the first decentralised artists in the music industry, they want their fans to be able to govern elements like artistic direction and even share ownership in Ape Rave Club.
Tomorrowland, held in Belgium annually since 2005, marks a landmark in the Ape Rave Club’s music journey, a festival that has become a global phenomenon and brings together people from every corner of the world.
Ape Rave Club is however an artist to look out for with possibilities of NFT drops with real-world utilities, special experiences and a whole new way to connect the music industry with the blockchain technology.
This venture is not BAYC’s first foray into the music industry, when Kingship, a metaverse group created by Universal Music Group was formed using four BAYC NFT collections.
