As if having seven Grammy’s at the tender age of 20 wasn’t enough, the singer-songwriter Billie Eilish expands her reach by filing for a pair of trademark applications: one for her name and one for the Blohsh logo, with the United States Patent and Trademark Office(USPTO).
These applications indicate that the star plans to expand into the metaverse with NFTs, digital collectibles, and software featuring virtual currency.
Licensed trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis broke the news on Twitter on 3 March, although the applications were filed on 26 February.
The applications were filed by her company Lash Music LLC and this move allows her fans to purchase her downloadable digital media created with blockchain-based technology, downloadable video game software, and other virtual goods, including in-game resources as well as the virtual currency used in these video games and virtual worlds.
Billie Eilish is signed with Interscope, a Universal Music Group(UMG) label. Considering the fact that UMG just announced a partnership with Curio, an NFT platform, it was just a matter of time before Billie Eilish filed for these trademarks.
