The burger chain Shake Shack is offering a 15% refund on the bill until March 15, 2022, with the difference paid back to you in Bitcoin for customers who make purchases at the fast-food chain using the Cash App digital wallet, the WSJ reports.
In Brief:
- Shake Shack is looking to reach younger customers with this promotional offer, valid till 15th March.
- Cash App users using a debit card and Cash Card members via Cash Boost can avail of the offer.
Customers who use the cash card, debit card available to Cash App users and who buy things via Cash Boost, a rewards program available to Cash Card members, will receive 15% of their purchase back in the form of Bitcoin as part of a promotion launched by Shake Shack.
Customers haven’t expressed an interest in paying using bitcoins at Shake Shack before. It is trying to attract younger customers, and this promotion could see if people are interested in paying for their food using cryptocurrency. It’s a simple approach to see if cryptocurrency is popular among the chain’s customers.
Shake Shack CMO Jay Livingston said, “You’re always trying to place your bets on those things that truly will be meaningful and not waste resources on the ones that won’t.”
Block has experimented with bitcoin on Cash App, allowing users to send it to others for free to encourage people to learn more about the cryptocurrency.
This is not the newest idea by Shake Shack. And Who would pass up the opportunity to earn some crypto-cashback when one makes a purchase?
Last year, Robinhood and Burger King partnered to reward consumers with Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin if they pay out over $5 in-store, on the app, or website.
